Scam Alert: Don’t be fooled by official looking e-mails |
Scam Alert: Members have reported receiving e-mails from the FDIC and NACHA, The Electronic Payments Association recently asking them to click on a link for further information relative to a transaction they completed. THESE E-MAILS ARE A SCAM and a phishing attempt to gain access to your computer to place a virus or malware on your hardware.
The e-mails look official with proper logos attached, but the FDIC serves the banking industry and has nothing to do with Woodlands Credit Union and NACHA will never contact you directly regarding a transaction. NACHA has no knowledge of anyone’s personal e-mail address to even send an email to you directly. If you receive a suspicious looking e-mail please contact Woodlands Credit Union at 800.313.9630 to verify its authenticity; do not click on any imbedded link in the e-mail until you have verified it as legitimate.
